So Close!

So this will be LAST song that I learned before starting this blog. I'm still far behind, mainly because I can't stop learning new songs faster than I can post. This song incorporated the F chord to help me practice what I have been attempting to do with the Animals' song. It's more of a sensitive song that my friend suggested, so it doesn't really fall under the theme of music I usually post on here haha.

More Sublime

My whole inspiration for playing guitar comes mainly from the workings of Bradley Nowell. So here is a really really really really really easy song that I learned. That's five "really"s in case you just skipped over them.

The F chord.

This little bastard is well known for giving beginners a tough time. Rather than learning the F chord as one single strum, I started to learn a song that used finger picking of the F chord. By doing this, I was able to hear every individual string sound to make sure I was holding the chord correctly and with enough pressure. I also learned how to play the smaller barred version of the F chord instead of the normal method since it was a lot easier. So to learn a finger picking song that uses an F chord... hmm... I got it. Only the most badass song ever. So without further ado, may I present you with the easiest way to learn the F chord, The House of the Rising Sun by the Animals.

Halloweeeeeeeeeen

During the month of Rocktober (aka, October for boring people), I was assigned a challenge by a friend to learn a new song before Halloween. Luckily, I just started to learn a song that that only has a few chords and is Halloween-ish. I was listening to Bad Moon Rising and I Put a Spell On You by Creedence Clearwater Revival and decided to learn the latter simply because it was easier. Below are the methods to play two new chords. The Am chord (A Minor) will be used a lot with the songs I learn, so practicing this came with the songs. As for the B7 chord, this is one that I've only used in only this song, so I had to work a little to memorize it.




Don't worry, the font just makes it look intense. I played this B7 chord without strumming the high e string. In this song we will be strumming mainly in the middle, so it won't really be hard to not strum it. And since there are no numbers for fingers, that's the second finger on the a string, the first finger on the d string, and the third finger on the g string (ha).

Brevity

For the sake of brevity, i'll list all of the songs that I learned and/or altered using just the major chords, or have simple enough finger picking. Once I started to get the hang of strumming, I was addicted to searching my music and finding pleasant songs to get me warmed up each session. Enjoy!
